A bit of history
Ancient Chinese beds

There are three types of Chinese beds: meridienne beds, Luohan beds and canopy beds.
Meridiennes are day beds; they consist of a structure and matting.
Luohan beds have borders on three sides. They are decorated in a great variety of designs. They are used for rest and more often for meditation.
Canopy beds consist of four posts held together by ornate string courses and a canopy.
Some of the larger beds are set on a platform and might even include a recess for small pieces of furniture.
